Three Joints Back-to-Front

Our body depends heavily on our big joints, the shoulder, hip and knee. They are also the joints that can cause most problems when we get older, when we injure ourselves or when we rely too much on them. In our studio we already help a lot of clients to get stronger - or more flexible - because of issues with their joints.

The most common sport related injuries, according to ACC, are: lumbar (back) sprain, ankle sprain, sprain of the knee and/or leg, neck sprain and sprain of shoulder and/or upper arm [1]. And did you know the most injuries happen by doing Rugby and Fitness/Gym activities? [2] So, with an ageing society [3] and an increasing rate of obesity [4] how can Classical Pilates assist?

This workshop series is open to anyone interested in learning (more) about the three joints, wanting to learn specific pilates exercises and and a range of equipment that are part of the Classical Pilates system. For participants new to Pilates, it is a comfortable way to get to know the Pilates Method without having to sign up.

What will you learn in each workshop?

  • What is the function of the shoulder, hip and knee joint?

  • What are the potential problems that can occur with these joints? Why do these problems happen?

  • What pilates exercises will help you prevent joint problems and/or can improve issues?

  • Which classical Pilates apparatus can be used to address joint issues?
